Summer is right around the corner and it is time to start planning your May activities and events for your vacation to Myrtle Beach. For the golf enthusiast you have more than enough to choose from. Not a golf pro? Do not worry! There are equally as many put-put courses to still make you feel like Bubba Watson. Celebrating the children’s last day of school? Start with a trip to some of the state’s best water parks! Myrtle Beach has so much to offer. The month of May will keep you on your feet to start your summer of activities and events off with a bang.
Start tomorrow with Cinco De Mayo! Myrtle Beach Speedway’s Amphitheater will host 3 Doors Down on Thursday May 5. Gates for an on Open at 6:30pm Concert starts 8:00pm. Tickets are still available! While you are at the speedway, do not forget to schedule your NASCAR Racing Experience. Drive a real NASCAR stock car! Start with a driver’s meeting with crew chief, training and instruction and in no time you will be timed racing around the Myrtle Beach Speedway. There’s no lead car to follow and no instructor riding with you. It will be like the real Pros!
May 7th is the 11th Annual Mayfest on Main Festival. The all day affair is held on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. Enjoy live music, food, crafts and take a look at what local vendors have to offer.
There is no better way to finish out your weekend than with mom. Take mom to Mothers day brunch at New York Prime or Wicked Tuna where they are giving moms a free Bloody Mary, Mimosa or glass of Champagne! Afterward head over to Brookgreen Gardens and enjoy the two new exhibits opening Mothers Day weekend. After you attend Mayfest on May 7th, you can also take advantage of Brookgreen Gardens’ Masquerade at the Muses.
Not one for a mask? Feeling crabby? Join us at the World Famous Blue Crab Festival, May 14th & 15th from 9am – 6pm. Grab your Blue Crab Festival t-shirt and listen to the live music and watch the locals show off their dance and gymnastic skills. If you’re around May 13th, you should attend Salt Air Jam at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. This is the official kick off party for the World Famous Blue Crab Festival and proceeds benefit Cystic Fibrosis.
Time to “wine down”? Every Wednesday during the month of May La Belle Amie Vineyard will host music outdoors, wine tastings and an all round good time. Come with a group or alone for some “me” time and take advantage of the half priced wine tastings.
If you’re too busy Wednesdays, then the Music on Main Concert Series will rescue your Thursdays. Kicking off May 19th and continuing every Thursday through October, North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation will bring you a free concert from 7pm – 9pm.
